Le Cordon Bleu

Le Cordon Bleu announced it is closing all 16 of its culinary schools across the country.

Career Education Corporation—the for-profit parent company that owns the brand, announced Wednesday it will no longer enroll new students after Jan. 4, 2016, and will begin discontinuing operations.

Existing students will be able to finish their programs and all campuses are expected to remain open until September 2017, said a release from the company.

Big Bad Corn

I’ll never forget the *forehead slap* moment when I realized that corn is not a vegetable, it’s a grain.  Cans of corn were always in the canned vegetable aisle at the grocery store when I was growing up, or fresh corn with the fresh vegetables in the produce aisle.  Why did I never learn that corn is a grain?

And then I found out that grains are toxic for mammals.  Toxicity symptoms may show up in different ways for different mammals – diabetes, high blood pressure, brain fog, obesity – but it will show up in some form or another, because grains are bad for us.

Then I saw this awesome graphic, and knew I had to share.  Smile
